Italian prosecutors have put four people under investigating into a fracas at the Lainate service station near Milan nine days ago, including the French Jewish tourist who filmed part of the incident and reported it to the authorities, sources said on Tuesday.
The 52-year-old Frenchman, who was wearing a kippah, filmed being abused in the presence of his six-year-old son and the video of the attack sparked an outcry.
After the furore broke a group of people who allegedly targetted the Frenchman, including individuals of Palestinian origin, filed a complaint against him.
They said he called them terrorists and when they replied by saying "free Palestine", he insulted and threatened them.
In addition to the video recorded by the tourist, investigators are also looking at closed-circuit surveillance footage, although this does not have any audio.
