A bike 'hoarder' who attacked a man with a wheel when the victim tracked his bicycle to his back garden has avoided jail.

Prolific thief Martin Shaba had stolen a bike from Oliver Goldstein adding to a vast collection behind his home in Oxford.

The defendant's stack of bicycles was said to be so large that entire bikes could be seen over the top of the fence separating his garden from his next door neighbours.

In a bid to get his own bicycle back, Mr Goldstein headed to the bike pincher's home after tracking its location on December 16, 2022.

Oxford Crown Court heard the victim was 'lucky to avoid serious injury' after being struck on the head when Shaba refused to return the item.
