Iris Haim, the mother of Yotam Haim, who was held hostage by Hamas in Gaza and, after managing to escape, was accidentally shot dead along with two other hostages by IDF soldiers in December 2023, said in an interview with Israel's public broadcaster that Israel must agree to Hamas' demands in the negotiations for a hostage deal.

"We have to surrender. I'm not afraid to say it. Surrendering is less terrible than letting the hostages starve to death," she said.

According to her, "This war should not continue for 20 years."

"We should surrender, raise a white flag, and then go to war again, because this enemy will not go anywhere," she added.
