U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff met with families of hostages being held in Gaza on Saturday, who said the envoy assured them that the U.S. plans to push for a single hostage deal, with Hamas agreeing to disarm and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu committed to ending the war in Gaza.
According to the Hostages and Missing Families Forum, Witkoff said that "Our first priority is to bring all the hostages home. President Trump believes everyone should come out, and those who are alive must be kept alive. This is a sacred mission to him."
According to several participants, Witkoff said that "the majority of the Israeli public wants the hostages home, and the majority of the Gazan public wants the hostages returned, because they want the Gaza Strip to be restored."
Witkoff also said that the U.S. knows who is alive in captivity, "and someone will be to blame if they don't come out alive," adding that the U.S. backs this statement.
