Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has responded positively to the allotment of five acres of land in Guwahati for the construction of a temple dedicated to Lord Venkateswara by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), according to apress statement.
The move is part of TTD’s broader initiative to promote religious activity and spread Sanatana Hindu Dharma across the country. The organisation has resolved to construct temples dedicated to Lord Venkateswara in all State capitals and major pilgrimage centres nationwide.
As part of this initiative, TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu met with Chief Minister Sarma on Friday to formally submit the land requisition. Mr. Sarma assured full support for the project and expressed his appreciation for the leadership of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu in launching this spiritual mission. The Chief Minister observed that the temple would serve as a vital spiritual centre for devotees from across the North-eastern States. He also highlighted the religious and cultural prominence of the Sri Kamakhya Devi temple in Guwahati, underscoring Assam’s deep-rooted spiritual heritage.
