The glasses have sold around 50,000 units across online e-commerce channels and Xiaomi’s bricks-and-mortar stores since their June 26 debut
Chinese tech giant Xiaomi’s newly released artificial intelligence glasses are expected to reach annual sales of more than 5 million units, according to a company executive, highlighting the gadget maker’s push into the market amid rising competition.
Consumer reaction to the AI glasses, debuted by company founder and chief executive Lei Jun at a corporate event in Beijing last month, was “enthusiastic and unanticipated”, Li Chuangqi, the executive in charge of the product, told local news portal Sohu.com.
Without disclosing exact figures, Li said sales were several times higher than initial “pessimistic” estimates and that he was now looking at annual sales of over 5 million in three years, according to the Sohu report.
Xiaomi did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Tuesday.
