MELBOURNE – In the backroom of Melbourne's oldest synagogue, a young queer couple tuck into bowls of cholent and egg dip on their third date. Seated against bookshelves of siddurs and High Holiday prayer books lit by candles, the couple aren't here for the synagogue's kiddush, but to experience one of the city's trendiest new restaurants serving traditional kosher Jewish food.
