Hyderabad woke up to overcast skies on Saturday (July 26, 2025) as grey clouds loomed over the city, eventually giving way to drizzle in some parts and moderate rainfall in others. The early spell of rain led to waterlogging and slowed traffic in several areas.

Light rains and weekend rush cause traffic snarls across Hyderabad and Cyberabad

The Hyderabad Traffic Police reported waterlogging and consequent traffic congestion at key junctions including Ayodhya Junction, Abids, Ranigunj and Saifabad. Commuters experienced delays during the morning rush as water accumulated on several stretches, hampering vehicle movement.

According to data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 10 a.m., Film Nagar recorded a rainfall of 10.3 mm followed by 10 mm in Banjara Hills, 9.8 mm in Mehdipatnam, 9.8 mm in Gachibowli, 9 mm in Serilingampally, 8.3 mm in Shaikpet, 8.3 mm in Jubilee Hills, 7.5 mm in Khairtabad, 7.5 mm in Rajdendranagar, 7 mm in Falaknuma, 7 mm in Goshamahal, 6.8 mm in Lingampally and 6.5 mm in Chanda Nagar.

As per a morning update from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), a light to moderate spell of rain (10–15 mm) is expected across the city between 10.20 a.m. and 12.20 p.m.
