BJP MP and the former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has said that the State government has become bankrupt under the Congress rule resulting in every individual carrying an additional loan burden of ₹1 lakh.
Speaking to presspersons in Haveri on Thursday, Mr. Bommai said that Home Minister G. Parameshwara has spoken the truth saying that the Congress government has no money.
On whether the BJP will demand publication of a White Paper on the State’s finances, Mr. Bommai said that the Congress government does not have a White Paper but a black paper showing the State’s bankruptcy.
To cover up fiscal deficit, additional taxes are being imposed and rates are being increased, he said. “Annually, each individual in a family is being imposed a burden of one lakh rupees. This is more than a White Paper,” he said.
On the housing scam, he said that Aland MLA B.R. Patil who raised the issue has now become silent. “He is the vice-chairman of Planning Commission. And, most likely he may get a Cabinet berth during the next expansion of the Ministry,” he mocked.
