Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh said that 3,400 potholes along 1,400 kilometres of roads under the PWD will be repaired on Tuesday.
Mr. Singh said that over 200 maintenance vans equipped with “advanced repair technology” and high-quality materials, along with 1,000 personnel, including 70 assistant engineers, 150 junior engineers, workers, and supervisors, will be deployed for the work.
The announcement came even as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted the monsoon to reach Delhi by Wednesday. While predicting daily rains till June 29, the IMD also issued a “yellow alert” urging citizens to “be aware” of potentially impactful weather.
Addressing a press conference, the Minister said, “It’s not that work hasn’t been done over the past four months. Pothole repairs have been carried out continuously. However, we decided to take immediate action given that the monsoon is likely to reach any day now.”
