MLA for Shivamogga S.N. Channabasappa has demanded the resignation of Minister for Housing Zameer Ahmed Khan over allegations of corruption in allotting houses to beneficiaries.
In a press conference in Shivamogga on Monday, Mr. Channabasappa said senior Congress leader B.R. Patil himself had made the allegations of corruption in the Housing Department. The State government should hold an inquiry into the allegations, and the Minister (Zameer Ahmed Khan) should resign to ensure a fair inquiry.
Further, the legislator raised objection to the government’s decision to increase reservation for minorities in the housing schemes.
“The Congress government is engaged in appeasement of minorities for political benefits. Already, the government has announced funds for the welfare of the minorities. There was no need for increasing the reservation,” he said.
