A 30-year-old woman allegedly killed her eight-year-old daughter before ending life at a farm pond over a property dispute with her husband in the village on the outskirts of Bengaluru on June 21.
The deceased, Mala, allegedly tied her eight-year-old daughter to her back and jumped into an agricultural pond. The incident occurred in the Vishwanathapura police station limits.
The deceased have been identified as Mala (30), a homemaker, and her younger daughter Anushree (8), a class 2 student in a private school. Mala is survived by her husband and a daughter aged 10.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Mala took the extreme step following a property dispute. Her husband had transferred 10 guntas of land to a relative after a discussion with his mother and brother.
Mala was upset that her husband transferred the land without informing her, leading to a heated argument.
