The Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB) launched ‘Drug Awareness Week’ today at the Command and Control Centre, Banjara Hills, with a large-scale inaugural event aimed at spreading awareness on the growing menace of drug abuse.
The programme, which will continue until June 26, was formally inaugurated by Telangana DGP Jitender. He also visited awareness stalls set up by various departments and partner organisations working in the area of drug prevention and rehabilitation.
The event saw a participation of nearly 2,000 students from 15 schools across the city. Senior officers addressed the gathering, highlighting the dangers of drug use and encouraging students to become ambassadors of a drug-free society.
Nine departments and organisations, including Mission Parivarthana, the Institute of Mental Health, Asha Hospital, TGCSB, Women Safety Wing, Telangana Academy for Skill and Knowledge (TASK), and the City Security Councils of Cyberabad, Rachakonda, and Hyderabad, showcased their contributions through informative stalls.
Students took a collective pledge to abstain from drugs and act as responsible ‘Anti-Drug Soldiers’ in their communities. The event drew a positive response from both students and attendees, with a clear emphasis on community-led awareness and vigilance.
