The first weekend of the Italian summer will be hot and sunny everywhere but sudden thunderstorms will hit certain areas, forecaster Lorenzo Tedici said Friday.
Summer 2025 offcially begins on Saturday 21 June at 4.41, with the start of the summer solstice.
The first weekend of summer, according to Tedici, meteorologist of the site www.iLMeteo.it, will see the comeback of the African anticyclone from Morocco and Algeria that will bring a general increase in temperatures but with a threat.
"The weather maps - he says - show a clear expansion of high pressure towards central-southern Europe but from the Canary Islands a small nucleus of more unstable air will touch the Northwest of Italy by tomorrow where it will bring thunderstorms, sometimes strong, starting from the morning on Piedmont and Emilia.
Later, and especially from late afternoon, showers will hit Eastern Liguria, Versilia and coastal Tuscany in general; from the night this stormy nucleus, of distant Canary origins, will bring phenomena to Lazio and the central Tyrrhenian Sea, before stopping on Sunday in the inland areas of Lazio.
