Polling started on a brisk note for the Assembly byelection in Nilambur in Kerala on Thursday (June 19, 2025) morning. Many voters reached the polling stations well before polling started at 7 a.m. Polling will continue until 6 p.m.
Nilambur registered 13.6% polling in the first two hours.

Nilambur is going to polls to find a representative in the Assembly following the resignation of Left Democratic Front (LDF)’s Independent candidate P.V. Anvar after he he had fallen out with the LDF. Mr. Anvar, who is currently All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) State convener, is contesting yet again as an Independent.
United Democratic Front (UDF)’s Aryadan Shoukath and LDF’s M. Swaraj are the key front runners in the poll fray.
