A 50-year-old man suffered severe injuries when a sloth bear attacked him in Palemkota village of Venkatagiri mandal in Tirupati district.
Katari Ankayya was one of the four men who had ventured into the forest to collect wood on Wednesday. While carrying on with his duties he was attacked by a sloth bear. The remaining three carried him for nearly 10 km until they found an ambulance. He was later admitted to the Government Hospital in Venkatagiri. Ankayya has been transferred to Tirupati for better treatment.
