As construction work of buildings to house All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) — Madurai, which was started in May last year, is steadily progressing, the hospital administration through social media platform X informed that Phase I would be completed by January 2026.
Further, it said the institution, upon completion of Phase 2 in 2027, would include expanded infrastructure and enhanced academic and clinical services.
Through a press release issued earlier this year, Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS —Madurai M. Hanumantha Rao said the civil work on the sprawling 220-acre campus was being executed in two phases.
The Phase I, the release said, included key facilities like academic block, hospital OP services, hostels and essential service buildings.
About 24% of the work had been completed till January 2025, and the remaining work was expected to be finished within 18 months from the start of the work.
