President Donald Trump took part in celebrations for the U.S. Army’s 250th birthday — which also falls on his 79th birthday — while thousands of protests against his administration took place around the globe.
Demonstrators took part in “No Kings” protests, the largest demonstration against the administration of Trump’s second term so far. The events coincided with a military celebration in Washington, D.C., that included a group fitness competition and a parade past the White House.

The president also said he’s monitoring the shooting of two Minnesota state lawmakers and their spouses, an incident Gov. Tim Walz (D) said appeared to be “politically motivated.” State Rep. Melissa Hortman (D) and her husband, Mark, were both killed at their home by a man impersonating a police officer. State Sen. John Hoffman (D) and his wife were also shot multiple times at their home and were hospitalized.
