As President Donald Trump attends the G7 summit in Canada, shocking details have emerged about the shooting of two Minnesota state lawmakers and their spouses, crimes Gov. Tim Walz (D) said appeared to be “politically motivated.”

State Rep. Melissa Hortman (D) and her husband, Mark, were both killed at their home by a man impersonating a police officer. State Sen. John Hoffman (D) and his wife were also shot multiple times at their home and were hospitalized.

The suspected shooter, Vance Boelter, was captured Sunday and charged with federal murder, stalking and shooting charges, in addition to state-level offenses. According to federal prosecutors, Boelter visited at least two other lawmakers’ homes during his alleged rampage.
