Representatives of the commission’s energy department insisted, at a nucleareurope conference in Brussels last week, that nuclear power has long been considered necessary to the energy transition and is already a beneficiary of EU funding, while nuclear advocates and pronuclear politicians claimed that nuclear is still either explicitly or de facto discriminated against in a wide range of EU funds and policies.
