Jailbirds at a prison once home to Peter Sutcliffe and Gary Glitter have drawn a swastika on the head of a mutilated seagull.

The Lesser Backed Gull - called Belinda - was found at HMP Isle of Wight in Newport with a few feathers pulled out meaning she can no longer fly.

It comes amid claims birds on site are often captured before being boiled in prisoners' kettles within their cells, Island Echo reports.

HMP Isle of Wight is a Category B prison with over 1,000 inmates - many of whom are sex offenders.

East End gangsters The Krays, Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe and disgraced pop star Gary Glitter previously served time there.
