Three months ago, in early March, Israel stood before a fork in the road. There were two options to choose from. One was to move from stage one of the January 2025 cease-fire agreement with Hamas into stage two, which was supposed to include the release of all remaining hostages held by the terror organization – and an end to the war that started with the Hamas attack on October 7. The second option was to break the cease-fire and renew the war.
