This article includes spoilers for “And Just Like That...” Season 3, Episode 1.Fans of “Sex and the City,” rejoice! Well, that is, if you’ve been anticipating the new episodes of “And Just Like That...” because Season 3 premiered Thursday on Max, with new episodes streaming weekly. The season picks up with Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Aidan (John Corbett) in a long-distance relationship, sending postcards back and forth between New York and Virginia. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is back on the dating scene after that mess of a relationship with Che Diaz (Sara Ramírez). Charlotte (Kristin Davis) is embroiled in some dog park drama (yawn!).Seema (Sarita Choudhury) is also dealing with a long-distance relationship and failing to connect with Ravi (Armin Amiri). Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) is working on her documentary about unsung women in history — and is receiving a bit of pushback from studio executives.HuffPost staff members chatted about the Season 3 premiere, analyzed the Carrie-Aidan relationship, clocked some classic “Sex and the City” callbacks and begged for some better storylines for a few characters. And of course, we talked about THAT hat. Read on below. At Last, Miranda Is Moving On From Che Diaz On ‘And Just Like That’I’m loving that Rosie O’Donnell has popped up with a few on-screen roles in the last few years. She was on “Hacks” earlier this season as herself. And then, she was also on my show “The L Word: Generation Q” for a couple seasons, too. (That show was canceled too soon!) This time, she is a nun named Mary who quickly falls for Miranda at a gay bar. I haven’t watched ahead so I can’t tell if O’Donnell’s character will return, but I hope we get to see Miranda date a lot in this season. I want some fun for my girl. — ErinYes, Erin. After the Che Diaz fiasco, I’m glad to see Miranda back on the prowl. Hopefully, she learns how to be less awkward at the lesbian bars, but I give her an E for effort. I love that her first hook-up of the season is another unhinged encounter, this time with a nun played by O’Donnell. I knew from the moment we saw her at the bar with Miranda that it was going to be nothing but shenanigans, but I was entertained nonetheless. I like Miranda when she’s happy and dating, not stressed over her divorce and stuck in a weird situationship. More of this energy this season! — NjeraThis encounter reminded me of one of my all-time favorite storylines from the original series: Friar Fuck. Samantha spies a hot priest across the street and tries to bed him, albeit unsuccessfully. He’s a lot more committed to the cloth than Mary is, apparently. That episode gives us one of my favorite Samantha lines: “I masturbated all afternoon to my priest.” This show really isn’t the same without her…Anyway, I did really enjoy the way Rosie played this character. The look on her face when Miranda found her in Times Square with her custom M&Ms had me laughing out loud. But Miranda showing up there and feeling the need to communicate with Mary at all is so out of character for the Miranda we know from the original series (as is … so much else). — LydiaI caught 1992’s “A League of Their Own” on TV last week and was reminded of just how great Rosie can be with well-written comedic material, so I was excited to see her as Mary. If my memory serves me well, she’s not had many previous opportunities to play queer women on screen, despite having been a high-profile member of the LGBTQ+ community herself. And yes, Lydia — I also thought the nun revelation was a great callback to Friar Fuck in Season 4 of the original series! — Curtis See All UpdatesClose
