Some 16 police are under investigation for allegedly torturing two arrestees, an Italian man and a Moroccan man, in Verona police HQ between August and November 2022, the Corriere di Verona newspaper reported Wednesday.
Initially there were 28 police officer suspects but charges have been dropped against 12 of them, the paper said.
The remaining officers are suspected of beating and mistreating the pair of detainees in various ways.
