Returning to the dating scene after a long-term relationship can be a daunting experience, even when you’re a pop star like Joe Jonas.

Appearing on Facebook’s TalkShopLive Wednesday, Jonas spoke about the inspiration for “Only Love,” a track which appears on his new solo album, “Music for People Who Believe in Love.” The song’s title, he explained, came from a conversation he had with a recent love interest.

“I was seeing somebody at the time, and I was kind of having this idea of dating again. It was really scary and intimidating,” Jonas said. “Love takes different shapes and forms, and I was rediscovering what that was.”

“And this person kinda comically, sarcastically was like, ‘It’s only love,’” he continued. “And I was like, ‘OK, it’s a big deal to me.’ And a big deal to them, too. But it’s OK to take a leap of faith and just try again and just put yourself out there.”

Jonas didn’t identify his romantic partner by name, nor did he offer a timeline for when the discussion took place.
