Adam Ramey of the rap-metal band Dropout Kings has died at age 31, leaving behind his wife and 18-month-old son, according to reports.
Ramey died by suicide Monday after a “long and painful battle with addiction,” his sister-in-law Jamie Varner wrote on GoFundMe.
The band also confirmed the vocalist’s death, noting on social media, “Life comes at you in ways you can never predict.”
“His passion, energy, and love for music shaped Dropout Kings and touched countless lives,” the statement continued. “We’re devastated to say the least, but Adam’s spirit, charisma and energy will not only forever inspire us, but will push us into the future to be the best that we can.”
The Phoenix-formed band released its first album in 2018, calling itself “a generational evolution of rap-infused rock bands such as Linkin Park and Limp Bizkit” on its website.
