Italy abstained in a vote on Monday at a World Health Organization committee on an agreement on responses to future pandemics, before it was adopted by the UN agency's assembly on Tuesday, AFP reported.
The Pandemic Agreement seeks to prevent repetition of the mistakes made during the Covid-19 pandemic, by improving international coordination and monitoring and access to vaccines.
Italy was among 11 States to abstain in Monday's committee vote on the resolution for the agreement, which passed with 124 votes in favour and none against.
