If America is truly headed for civilizational collapse, Elon Musk surely sees his role as the 'deus ex machina.'

For years, Musk has demonstrated his fascination with the Roman Empire - from his affinity for gladiator garb, to his multi-million-dollar funding of the study of antiquity, to his obsession with siring Augustan 'legions' of offspring with a modern harem of baby mommas.

'To reach legion-level before the apocalypse, we will need to use surrogates,' Musk reportedly texted Ashley St Clair, a self-styled MAGA influencer and the alleged mother of Musk's 7-month-old son, Romulus, the name itself a nod to Rome's fabled founding brothers, Romulus and Remus.

Indeed, Musk's apparent fixation on Rome (and procreation) seems to be intertwined with his personal crusade to save humanity from extinction.

'Rome fell because the Romans stopped making Romans,' Musk, 53, has dubiously argued, claiming that the ancient empire's low fertility rates were the reason for the imperial kingdom's collapse.
