fter Nemo was named the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest last weekend, the Swiss singer accidentally broke the glass microphone trophy. It seemed an appropriate end to what had been a controversial and chaotic tournament, one poisoned by global politics and where allegations abounded of backstage misconduct and confrontations between fans.

But if organisers were hoping the drama had reached its denouement, they were disappointed — the toxicity has shown no sign of abating in the days afterwards. If you think the party was bad, try the week-long hangover. The competition may never be the same again.
