The terminally ill campaigner had previously joined Dignitas, but explained she was not ready to die when she was still well enough to make the journey. Dame Esther has renewed her plea to MPs to vote in favour of legalising assisted dying ahead of the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill returning to Parliament. Reintroduced by Labour MP Lauren Edwards, the proposed legislation would allow assisted dying for adults in England and Wales diagnosed with six months or less to live. Opponents of the Bill argue it could endanger vulnerable individuals through coercion and urge the government to prioritise funding for palliative and social care instead.
