Loving grandad was killed in random knife attack by man released on police bail

The teenager stabbed Mr Carroll in the back with a kitchen knife during an unprovoked attack in St Martin’s Gardens on 10 April 2024. Rahman was free to commit the murder despite being released on police bail twice shortly before and carrying out another non-fatal stabbing two months earlier. The Metropolitan Police has launched an investigation into its previous contacts with Rahman to determine if the murder could have been prevented. Describing the assault as a shocking and cowardly attack on an innocent public member, Judge Dodd highlighted that Rahman remains a very dangerous individual.
