Farmer noticed one unusual rice plant, selected its seeds for years and developed a paddy variety yielding 8,000 kg per hectare

Farmer Indrasan Singh of Inderpuri from Uttarakhand developed a paddy variety after noticing one plant that differed from the rest in a crop grown from Ratna seeds. He saved and replanted its seeds over several years before testing the resulting variety on his farm. Named “Indrasan”, the variety was later spread among farmers and received institutional support for further development.
