Construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway has made fresh progress, with the No.2 North Koshtobe Tunnel in Kyrgyzstan recently broken through, the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan Railway Co said. Phased advances achieved on other key projects including the Naryn No.1 Tunnel.

Conceived in 1997, the 500km China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway will offer the shortest land route from China to the Middle East and Europe.
