Romania is moving to accelerate investments in cross-border electricity capacity, including on its border with Bulgaria, as the country prepares its power grid for rising renewable generation, greater energy storage and deeper integration with the European electricity market. Romania’s National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) has approved the 2026-2035 Electricity Grid Development Plan, known as PDRET, setting out Transelectrica’s investment priorities for the national transmission network over the next decade, according to the Romanian newspaper Diplomat.
