Torrential rain in Nagoya caused a brief evacuation of hundreds of athletes and officials. The heavy rainfall prompted authorities to issue an evacuation order for parts of the city. Subway and bus services were temporarily suspended, and flood warnings were issued. Officials are assessing damage to competition venues and facilities. However, the mayor stated the Asian Games will proceed as scheduled.

There is no dedicated athletes’ village, with organisers instead relying on a cruise ship, temporary wooden containers and hotels.

Rainwater leaked into competition venues a day before some preopening ceremony competitions beginning on Thursday.
