UK airport disruption continues as more than 200 flights already cancelled

Tens of thousands of passengers experienced severe delays and travel chaos at major UK airports, including Heathrow and Gatwick; a further 279 cancellations were recorded early on Wednesday at Heathrow and Gatwick.Nats confirmed the technical fault was resolved approximately four hours after it started, but warned it will take time for schedules to return to normal. Passengers travelling on Wednesday have been advised to check the status of their flight with their airline before arriving at the airport. The Transport Secretary has summoned Nats chief executive Martin Rolfe to explain the cause of the system failure and the organisation's response.
