The comedian welcomed his daughter, Scottie Rose Hewitt Davidson, in December with former partner Elsie Hewitt, naming her in honour of his late father. Davidson expressed that reaching the age his father was when he died has made this year's anniversary particularly challenging, yet healing and special. He recounted learning about his father's death from a television broadcast at age seven, after three weeks of uncertainty following the 2001 terrorist attacks. Davidson and Jon Stewart will host a comedy benefit at Madison Square Garden on 10 September to raise funds for 9/11 first responders and their families.
