Space Shuttle Columbia's 1994 mission studied animal reproduction in zero gravity. Four red-bellied newts and medaka fish were part of biology experiments. At least 32 newt eggs and 25 medaka fry hatched successfully during the flight. This experiment provided crucial data on embryonic development without gravity. The findings confirmed life's ability to start and multiply far above Earth.
