Supreme Court slams assaults on doctors in Maharashtra, questions liberty of accused

The Supreme Court strongly disapproved of repeated assaults on doctors and hospital staff. Justices observed that individuals of the same ideology were allegedly behind these attacks. The court questioned how accused individuals could remain at liberty after such incidents. A plea concerning Shiv Sena corporator Ramesh Sukrya Mhatre was heard by the bench. The Maharashtra government also sought cancellation of Mhatre's bail.
