The 80-year-old presenter stepped back from hosting his BBC Radio 2 shows, Sounds Of The 70s and Radio 2 Country, in June to concentrate on his health following a broadcasting career spanning nearly 56 years. In an emotional update shared on Instagram, Harris admitted the emotional toll of his diagnosis while expressing gratitude for a precious summer spent with family and remaining confident the new treatment will keep things at bay. Offering advice to others facing personal struggles, the former Old Grey Whistle Test presenter urged fans to “never give in” and to fight with all their might. Despite his ongoing medical care, Harris confirmed he remains focused on the future and plans to take to the stage in December at the Royal Albert Hall for a tribute concert held in his honour.
