Building was being repaired due to waterlogging in basement, say Satya Niketan residents; flag civic issues

A five-storey building collapsed in Satya Niketan after two days of incessant rains. Locals complained of persistent waterlogging and unchecked construction in the area. Rescuers struggled to pull out students believed to be trapped inside the collapsed structure. Many building owners reportedly do not reside in the area and neglect maintenance. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi also faces allegations of not conducting regular inspections.
