Bhageerathi Amma returned to formal education at 105 after family responsibilities had forced her to leave school as a child. She cleared Keralas Class 4 equivalency examination with 75%, including 100% in mathematics. Her journey later received attention from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and earned her the Nari Shakti Puraskar in 2020. She died aged 107 in 2021.
