High Court quashes dismissal of Punjab cop over Lawrence Bishnoi interview

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has reinstated Gursher Singh Sandhu as Deputy Superintendent of Police. His dismissal stemmed from a controversial interview with jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The court found the state could not justify dispensing with a regular departmental inquiry. Sandhu's reinstatement includes all consequential benefits from the dismissal order. The state retains the right to continue the pending departmental inquiry against him.
