Mike Johnson got help from the other side of the aisle to pass a stopgap funding bill to head off a government shutdown ahead of the midterm elections.

The legislation, which already passed the Senate, now goes to President Donald Trump to become law, checking off the main item on Congress’ to-do list ahead of the midterms.

The House passed a bill on Tuesday to extend government funding to December 11, clearing a path to avert a shutdown ahead of the midterm elections.
