25-yr-old dispute ends, Jharkhand & Bihar ink pact to share Sone river water

Bihar and Jharkhand signed a water-sharing agreement for the Sone river. This pact resolves a long-standing water dispute between the two eastern states. The agreement will provide irrigation and drinking water to many farmers and citizens. Under the new accord, Bihar receives more water than its current usage. Jharkhand has secured a legal share of two million acre-feet of water.
