The charges stem from the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose dismembered and decomposing remains were found in September in the trunk of Burke's Tesla.Burke faces multiple charges, including capital murder with special circumstance allegations of lying in wait, murder for financial gain, and killing a witness, alongside counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 and mutilation of human remains. Prosecutors contend that Burke invited the teenager to his Hollywood Hills home and killed her to prevent her from revealing their lengthy sexual relationship, which threatened his music career. Burke has pleaded not guilty to all charges and remains held without bail while the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office considers whether to seek the death penalty.
