Iran claimed to have launched ballistic missiles at two US air bases in Jordan after American forces struck Larak Island. Iranian media said the missiles targeted technical infrastructure and fighter-jet positions, while Al Arabiya reported that Jordanian air defences intercepted them. US Central Command said blockade remained in place.

The exchange of attacks is the first flare-up in violence between the two sides since late July.

Iranian state television showed what it said were ballistic missiles being fired at two US bases in Jordan in retaliation to the American strikes.

Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces had vowed to respond after the United States struck Larak Island earlier on Sunday.
