Mike Lindell, a prominent Trump supporter, is challenging his Republican primary defeat in Minnesota. The Minnesota Supreme Court rejected his request for a broader recount of the gubernatorial primary ballots. Lindell had argued for a more extensive review of ballots cast in both parties. He plans to appeal the ruling to the U.S. Supreme Court and seeks election data. Lisa Demuth will now face Amy Klobuchar in the general election.

Lindell, a longtime 2020 election denier, previously said he would pay $825,000 to cover a full hand recount of his lost GOP gubernatorial primary in Minnesota.

The chief justice said Lindell's claim "fails on the merits” and wrote that he seemed not to understand the purpose of a recount.
