Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul el Sayed caught fire in March for saying "hurt people hurt people" in response to a targeted attack on a synagogue.

El-Sayed, who would be the first Muslim senator, has denounced antisemitism while fiercely criticizing Israel for its military operations in Gaza.
