There have been several promising developments lately in cancer research and treatment, including a new drug approved by the FDA this week for advanced pancreatic cancer. William Brangham reports.

The therapy is a brand new targeted drug for the disease which experts have labelled as a substantial breakthrough following doubling of survival time in a trial.

The FDA has approved a life-extending treatment for advanced pancreatic cancer — the first such therapy to attack a genetic cause of the highly lethal malignancy.
